April 21, 1957, under the leadership, of Reverend John Wesley Short and seven worshipers, met to organize a Church. The meeting was held at 2861 N. Capitol Ave; Indianapolis, Indiana, in the home of Reverend Short. Those in attendance was

At this meeting at the suggestion of Mrs. Elzoria Short, the name "Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church" was accepted. Reverend John Wesley Short was officially elected as the Pastor of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church.

Ministers, representing The Central District Missionary Baptist Association.

The FIRST SERVICE of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church was held at 2304 North Capitol Avenue at the Women's Federation Club Home. Later, Services was moved to 316 West 30th Street.

The Church moved to our current address 519 East 23rd Street.

Pastor J.W. Short shared His vision "God would fill the Church with members; If you will only BELIEVE"

Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church paid off its original mortgage and remodeled the Sanctuary.

Reverend Sterling Lewis Williams, Sr. was elected as Pastor of Greater Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. The Church is blessed to have a capable, loving Pastor with a Strong Conviction for the "Word of God"
